Maldives Immigration has detained four migrants in raids on four massage parlors on Tuesday night as part of efforts to combat illegal businesses run by migrants.

Immigration, on Wednesday, said they detained four undocumented migrants during the raid on the four massage parlors.

The authority added that all four massage parlors have been issued notices by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade to shut down their operations.

Sun was unable to obtain further information regarding the raids as Immigration’s media official did not respond to calls.

Massage parlors have long been used as a front for prostitution. Such businesses have been shut down in various operations.

Immigration has raided numerous locations as part of ongoing efforts to identify and detain migrants in the Maldives engaged in illegal business activities which have seen the detention of dozens of migrants, including undocumented ones.
