Police seek to locate mother of suspect in Hiyaa flat robbery case

Maldives Police Service, on Thursday, has made a public announcement seeking to locate the mother of the female suspect arrested in connection to a robbery that took place inside a Hiyaa apartment in a similar case under investigation by the authority.

The announcement was made seeking to locate Saleema Saleem, 52, M. Goanbiligasdhodhuge.

As per the announcement, Police are seeking assistance to locate Saleema in connection to a fraud and deceit case under investigation by Fuvahmulah Police Station as they have been unable to serve summons to Saleema to appear for question as they are unaware of her whereabouts.

Saleema has been instructed to present herself at Sargent Adam Haleem Criminal Investigation Building on next week’s Tuesday.

Her daughter, Aminath Humaina Zakariyya, 24, M. Goanbiligasdhoshuge, was arrested in a similar case earlier. The case saw victims lured to a Hiyaa apartment on false pretenses where they were assaulted, stripped and blackmailed to rob them out of large sums of money and items such as mobile phones.

Hulhumale’ Phase II Police Station’s Head, Superintended of Police Rajnee Shuaib has previously said Humaina was released without presentation before the court in consideration of her health condition as she was pregnant. Further arrests were made in connection to the case.

According to Rajnee, the victims were lured to the apartment under the pretense of prostitution. In this regard, he detailed that the suspects treated various social media accounts pretending to be women and advertised prostitution.

Humaina is also suspected of approaching older men at Hiyaa Flat area and luring them to the apartment under the pretense of sexual relations in order to rob them.
