House burns down in fire in Hangameedhoo

A fire broke out in ADh. Hangameedhoo on early Saturday, burning down a private residence in the island.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said the fire damaged the house beyond inhabitation.

The NDMA did not provide any details, but said it is collaborating with the local council to assist the people affected by the fire.

Hangnameedhoo Council was not immediately available for comment regarding the incident.

Meanwhile, the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) said the incident was not reported to the authority.

The cause of the fire is unclear at this point.
