Sun Siyam Group's head office on Tuesday commenced its turn in the ongoing blood donation camp, which launched earlier on May 09, in commemoration of the World Thalassemia Day.
The first of the series of blood donation camps by Sun Siyam Group was launched at Sun Siyam Olhu Veli, with the camp held at Siyam World next on Thursday last week.
The group's head office staff attended Maldivian Blood Services (MBS) on Tuesday morning at 10:00hrs to begin donations, which was officiated by the Senior Specialist Registrar in Pediatrics of MBS Dr. Ahmed Umar.
While speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Umar said the camp has been a successful intiative organized and held by Sun Siyam Group annually. He expressed hope that the camp will encourage more people to donate blood for the cause.
"Maldivian Blood Services, thalassemia patients and their families would like to extend our gratitude to the staff of Sun Siyam Group for their donations," Dr. Umar said.
"We are hopeful that many employees would attend today to donate blood, and we would like to highlight with delight the conclusion of successful camps in two resorts already, which are Sun Siyam Olhu Veli and Siyam World. Overall, more than 200 employees have donated blood so far," Azza said.
The blood donation camp was launched by Sun Siyam Group first in 2015, and has been held annually with the exception of the break taken during the Covid-19 pandemic.
During last year's camp a total of 459 staff of the group donated blood.
