The Maldives Meteorological Center (MET Office) has forecast worsening weather conditions from north to central parts of the Maldives for the next three days.
MET Office on Tuesday said in a statement the region will experience strong stormy weather for the next three days with strong gusts and rain.
According to the weather authority, wind speeds will be between 15 to 25 miles per hour, with gusts between 45 to 55 miles per hour for the region along with strong sea swells during high tides and rough seas.
The office had issued a yellow alert for the region from 14:30hrs to 18:30hrs on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, MET has cautioned public, especially seafarers to take extreme safety measures ahead of trips; and urged to safeguard from potential damages due to storms and heavy rainfall.
