Sun Siyam Group founder Ahmed Siyam Mohamed has emphasized that for over 35 years, the guiding principle behind reviving and sustaining the Sun Siyam brand has been to conduct business with humanity at its core.

In a gesture of compassion, Siyam personally donated USD 200,000 to support Sri Lanka’s recovery from the devastation caused by cyclone Ditwah. The first USD 75,000 was handed over on November 30, with the remaining USD 125,000 delivered on Wednesday to Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, Rizvi Hassen.

Speaking at his office, Siyam reflected on the global decline of compassion despite a population of eight billion. He stressed the importance of placing humanity first, especially when neighboring countries face hardship.

“This is who I am, my true character. Our Sun Siyam brand follows that. The most significant part of our business is to treat people with humanity, love, and compassion, whether they are our employees or others,” Siyam said.

All companies and resorts under the Sun Siyam Group collectively raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to aid Sri Lanka, with the contributions formally handed over to the High Commissioner.

Siyam described the effort as a moving display of humanity by the Sun Siyam family, from senior management to frontline employees.

“What pleases me most is that thousands of employees in our company value humanity. For that, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to every member of the Sun Siyam family,” he said.

Reiterating the teachings of Islam, Siyam noted that compassion, care, and helping those in need are central values, and that Allah rewards those who support people in times of disaster.

“I am hopeful that all our employees and members of the Sun Siyam family will receive blessings for their compassion,” he added.

Reflecting on his three decades in business, Siyam said his greatest effort has been to revive the spirit of doing business with love, compassion, and humanity.

“We must do business with the mindset of serving others, in ways that benefit many people,” he said.

Siyam affirmed that the Sun Siyam Group will continue to contribute positively to society and its citizens in the years ahead.
