The Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) launched ‘Keyli’ on Saturday, a speech-to-text software that will be used by courts.
The software was launched by Chief Justice Muthasim Adnan in a ceremony held at the DJA headquarters in Male’ on Saturday morning.
DJA said the software will help speed up court proceedings.
It marks the first time for the Maldivian judiciary to use such a software.
According to DJA, the software will reduce the time it takes to write down the transcript of court hearings, and facilitate a system where court documents are available in a timely manner.
‘Keyli’ was developed by tech company Intelia.
Speaking at the launch even, Chief Justice Muthasim the software will be of immense benefit to the judiciary, and aid judges in conducting and finishing court proceedings.
Meanwhile, Hisaan Hussain, president of Judicial Services Commission (JSC), said the software will revolutionize the Dhivehi language and the country’s judiciary.
She said that whereas it took 30 minutes to transcribe a two-hour speech, it will now take under three minutes to have the text ready for a 30-minute speech.
