Mohamed Qasim, the father of the leader of the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and the parliamentarian for Meedhoo constituency Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, has passed away early Wednesday morning.
At the time of his death, Qasim was 81.
Qasim, who had been residing at his island N. Kudafari, was brought to Male’ City and admitted at ADK Hospital, where he had passed away, for medical care over an illness two days ago.
Qasim, the pioneer of Sun Siyam Group and Hotels, had served as the island chief of Kudafari and the principal of the island’s school. He is highly respected among the residents of the island and the atoll.
Siyam is the oldest child of Qasim. Qasim has a total of nine children.

Qasim’s funeral will be held at the Islamic Centre after Asr Prayer. Viewing of the deceased will proceed at the same location starting 1:30pm.
