Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has instructed the removal of vessels irregularly harbored in the lagoon near the Vilimale’ Ferry Terminal in Maafannu.

In a statement Thursday, MTCC said that the Transport Ministry had issued permission for only MTCC’s vessels to be harbored in the area.

The company said the presence of other vessels in the area was resulting in delays in the ferry schedule.

MTCC said it was also heightening the risk of marine accidents.

MTCC has instructed for the vessels to be removed from the area within 10 days.

The company warned that vessels that aren’t removed during the period will be removed with the assistance of police.
