Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, on Monday, has contracted Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) to upgrade the harbors at AA. Feridhoo and HDh. Naivaadhoo.
The agreement pertaining to the projects was signed during a special ceremony at Planning Ministry on Monday. Director-General Shaana Farooq signed the agreement on behalf of the Ministry while CEO Adam Azim signed on behalf of MTCC.
Feridhoo harbor project was contracted to MTCC to be completed within a one-year period. The project valued at over MVR 50 million, funded from the state budget, involves harbor basin dredging operations of 7,848 cubic meters, new harbor basin dredging operations of 23,579 cubic meters, and channel dredging operations of 4,268 cubic meters.
The scope of work also includes the construction of a 147-meter breakwater alongside the construction of quay wall and revetment.
Naivaadhoo harbor project valued at MVR 51 million was contracted to MTCC to be completed within 450 days.
The scope of work under this project includes harbor basin dredging operations of 15,319 cubic meters, and channel dredging operations of 15,319 cubic meters.
Apart from these two projects, MTCC was also awarded a shore protection project at N. Hulhudhoo on Monday.
To be completed within 400 days, the project involves the construction of a rock boulder breakwater at the eroding site at Hulhudhoo measuring in 570-meters alongside a 375 geo bag revetment and 14-meter rock boulder revetment.
