Police seek help to identify suspect who set ablaze shop in Hithadhoo

Maldives Police Service, on Thursday, has appealed for public assistance in identifying and locating a suspect for interrogation in connection to arson at a shop in Addu City’s Hithadhoo.

A shop named ‘Blossom’ in Addu City’s Hithadhoo was set ablaze on September 5.

Police have released a video clip showing CCTV footage of the suspect setting the shop ablaze. They said they have been unable to identify or locate the suspect in their efforts so far.

The video shows a person, hair and face concealed, breaking the display of the shop with what looks like a brick. Later, the person empties something out of a bottle, believed to be petrol, inside the shop. Following this, the shop is set ablaze.

Police have asked anyone with information regarding the person shown on the footage to contact Addu City Hithadhoo Police at 9791512, and share the information.
