Two detained from airport remanded in custody for 10 days

The two foreigners detained from the Velana International Airport (VIA) on Sunday night have been remanded in custody of the police for 10 days.

A police spokesperson said Monday that the two people were detained from the airport and taken to police headquarters for questioning in connection to an ongoing investigation.

The spokesperson identified the two as foreigners, one a 26-year-old and the other a 41-year-old.

They were arrested from the police headquarters.

The two are reportedly Indian nationals suspected of espionage. They had reportedly been at the airport with spy cams.

However, police have disclosed little details regarding the case.
