Alamgiri slapped with five-day remand

Bangladeshi national, MD Alamgiri, who was arrested following admittance to engaging in sexual relations with high-profile male politicians, has been remanded in police custody for five days.

Alamgiri was brought before Criminal Court for a remand hearing on Wednesday.

He was arrested under court order on Tuesday, at approximately 15:00pm in the afternoon. At the time of arrest, he was in the guesthouse where he resides, located in Maafannu.

Police have yet to make an official statement regarding Alamgiri’s arrest.

Videos and photos of high-profile male politicians engaging in sexual relations were leaked on social media over the past weeks.

Alamgiri was seen in multiple leaked videos.

One video shows Ahmed Nazim Abdul Sattar, a prominent lawyer and the younger brother of Parliament speaker, former president Mohamed Nasheed, engaging in sexual relations Alamgiri. Another video shows former Nolhivaram MP Mohamed Nasheed (Colonel Nasheed) with Alamgiri, in the same room where he engaged in sexual relations with Nazim Sattar.

All three men have been barred from travel as the police investigate them for sexual misconduct.

Meanwhile, Alamgiri has made a public apology for having engaged in sexual relations with high-profile male politicians and videotaping the acts.

In a video obtained by Sun, he states that he is a very poor person, who is unaware of right and wrong. Showing himself repent, he appealed to Maldivian citizens to forgive him.

“I have repented. All Maldivian citizens, please forgive me,” he had said.
