No arrests yet made over violent altercations in Male’ City on Eid

Maldives Police Service, on Wednesday, has confirmed that no arrests have yet been made in connection to the two separate violent altercations that took place in Male’ City on Monday.

The first altercation took place at Koarukendi Magu, near Maaveyo Mosque at around 05:48am on Monday morning. Two Maldivians received treatment from Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for injuries sustained from the violence that ensued.

Meanwhile, the second altercation took place at the intersection of Janavaree Magu and Majeedhee Magu at approximately 9:17am on Monday morning. Two that were injured from the violence that ensued received treatment at ADK Hospital.

A Police Spokesperson confirmed to Sun that the condition of all four injured individuals have improved. However, no further details were disclosed.

Noting that no arrests have been made regarding the cases so far – the Spokesperson stressed they were both under investigation.
