A council member of Th. Dhiyamigili MuthasimAbdul Raheem said that the victim of the stabbing incident that took place was now doing better.
Muthasim further stated that he was currently admitted at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) ward, and was able to speak as well.
Additionally, he stated that the doctors were preparing to do surgery.
“The doctor said there was a blood clot in the spine… in a blood vessel near the ninth joint, and the surgery was to remove it.”
Despite the victim being able to speak, the motive behind the violence remains unknown, and they have not received any information regarding that, said Muthasim.
The attack took place on Sunday, March 13, at approximately 09:35 am in the Thinkolhufushi area of Dhiyamigili.
The victim, a muezzin, sustained multiple stab wounds in the attack, including four deep wounds on his back.
He was initially treated at the Dhiyamigili Health Center, before getting transferred to Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male' City.
Police said that the suspect – a 35-year-old Maldivian man – was presented before Madifushi Magistrate Court for a remanding hearing, at which he was remanded in police custody till the end of his trial
