Ex-WAMCO MD Adam Mohamed appointed MD of Maldives Post

Former Managing Director of Waste Management Corporation (WAMCO) Adam Mohamed has been dismissed from the position and appointed as Managing Director of Maldives Post Limited. 

Adam Mohamed confirmed to Sun he was appointed to the new position on Monday. 

Adam Mohamed said that unlike WAMCO, Maldives Post Limited was a larger enterprise, and that he would work to achieve the goals set out by the government. 

“My vision is that, the company is currently ranked ninth in the world. My goal is to move the company up the list. I will work to increase the company’s profits,” he said. 

Adam Mohamed is a member of Jumhoory Party – a government coalition partner. 

Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) has yet to announce whether it has replaced the vacancy left in WAMCO in the wake of Adam Mohamed’s move to Maldives Post Limited. 

Other recent changes to the top management of state-owned enterprises include the appointment of Elections Commission’s former Chairman Ahmed Shareef as Managing Director of State Electric Company (STELCO). Shareef’s predecessor, Hassan Mughnee has been appointed as State Minister for Environment.
