It has been revealed vehicles belonging to Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) are being used to transport passengers of the national airline, Maldivian, at the airport.
A video showing passengers arriving from flights of the airline at Velana International Airport being transported on MNDF vehicles has recently gone viral on social media.

Commenting on the matter, Island Aviation’s Deputy Managing Director Aishath Jennifer told Sun that MNDF vehicles were being used to transport passengers during this season.
She further detailed that an agreement has been executed with MNDF regarding passenger transportation.
“This is not something we do in secret. We have executed an agreement with MNDF for passenger transportation,” she had said.
Jennifer stressed that due to the increased number of passengers in this season, it is difficult to accommodate all of them on Maldivian’s vehicles.
On this note, she stated that the company has placed an order for additional vehicles to be utilized in the high season.
“We have ordered vehicles for the season. However, it has not arrived yet,” she
Jennifer said that the company hopes to receive the vehicles within this month.
The use of MNDF vehicles for passenger transportation by Maldivian has garnered criticism from the public on social media.
