Police begin enforcing masks across Maldives

Maldives Police Service on Thursday announced that the authority has commenced enforcing Health Protection Agency (HPA) mandating masks in public.

According to a tweet from the official Police account, since the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the country are on the rise, masks have been mandated, and Police are acting to enforce this. 

Police also urged and reminded the public to wear masks for the individual as well as community protection in their tweet. 

Lately, the number of daily recorded positive cases have been increasing, with 224 people on Wedesday. This included 102 cases from greater Male' and 74 cases from resorts. 

Discussions are underway between the government and health workers to tighten preventive measures as cases soar.
