Economic Ministry has begun granting special exceptions for migrant workers, allowing them extensions on the time period they are required to enter Maldives under work permit entry pass and employment approval.

Migrant workers who have work entry pass or employment approval are required to enter Maldives within 90 days.

Economic Ministry said they made the decision to grant special exceptions to offer extensions to the period to address the difficulties in travel due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting this Sunday, migrant workers with work permit entry pass or employment approval who are unable to travel to Maldives within the required period can apply for an extension within at least 48 hours before the deadline.

Requests for extensions need to be made via email to [email protected].
