President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has dismissed Zaha Waheed from her position as Minister of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture.
Sun has been informed the President’s Office Chief of Staff Ali Zahir called Zaha at midnight to inform her of the President’s decision.
Zaha has been hit with criticism from parliamentarians Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) – the main ruling party – who accuse her failure to adequately fulfil her responsibilities.
Sun has been informed that the President has made the decision to appoint Zaha a Minister at the President’s Office.
Zaha was appointed Fisheries Minister on a slot to government coalition partner Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) – founded by former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
The President has decided to make additional changes to his Cabinet, and recently discussed the changes with coalition leaders.
