Elections Commission has begun releasing the final results of the Local Council Elections and Women’s Development Committee Elections held on April 10.

Elections Commission began releasing the final results at 02:00 pm this Thursday.

The law requires for the final results to be released within 14 days after polling closes. Elections Commission was therefore required to announce the results by April 24 at the latest.

Elections Commission began releasing preliminary results on April 14. The results are available on Election Commission’s website.

The final results come in after Elections Commission recounted some of the ballot boxes to confirm results, sparking protest from opposition PPM and PNC which accused the commission of electoral fraud.

Elections Commission has announced it will be rerunning elections in some of the districts.
