Nashiz appointed Vice Chair of Commonwealth Public Account Committees

Chair of Maldivian Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee, Kinbidhoo MP Mohamed Nashiz has been appointed Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Association of Public Accounts Committees (CAPAC).

Nashiz was appointed a member of Executive Committee and later Vice Chair of the Executive Committee of CAPAC, during the CAPAC General Meeting and Conference held on Wednesday.

CAPAC was established in 2015 as a network for strengthening public financial management and accountability - vital in maintaining the trust of citizens and the integrity of governments and legislatures.

CAPAC’s key functions include defining, publishing and promoting standards of good practice, in line with Commonwealth principles, to assist CAPAC member committees – an parliaments and governments themselves - in being effective, transparent and independent.

Parliaments of 40 countries have adopted CAPAC’s principles.
