Shop opening hours extended to 06:00-21:30

Economic Ministry has announced the decision to allow shops in the greater Male’ region to open as early as 06:00 am, providing a slight ease on the restriction on business hours implemented as a measure to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

Economic Ministry announced on Saturday that it has made the decision to bring changes to the opening hours for shops amid the state of public health emergency.

The changes will be effective this coming Sunday.

As such, opening hours for shops and other such establishments in the greater Male’ region will be 06:00 am to 09:30 pm, reads the announcement.

Shop opening hours were previously limited to 09:30 am to 09:30 pm.

Economic Ministry has urged shops and all business establishments in general to adhere to Health Protection Agency (HPA)’s safety guidelines.

Additional restrictions in effect in the greater Male’ region includes a 08:00 pm to 05:00 am ban on vehicular traffic, and a 10:00 pm to 05:00 am curfew.
