Minister for Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula is to be summoned to the Parliament’s Committee on National Development and Heritage tonight.
A Committee member confirmed to Sun that meeting will be held online at 21:00 tonight and that the Minister as well as State Minister Ahmed Zuhair and senior officials of the ministry are to be summoned for the meeting.
The purpose of summoning the Minister was to clarify the operations by government offices regarding COVID-19 that are underway said the member who noted that other ministers have also been previously summoned.
Public criticism has been directed at Minister Nahula for not having an adequate part in the government operations for the virus.
National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez has previously said that the Minister was at a private resort during the situation with the virus. The Minister was permitted to travel to the private property as an owner of the establishment.
