Police officer stationed at an isolation facility accused of sexual harassment

Maldives Police Service, on Thursday, announced it has launched an investigation against a police officer stationed at the Hulhumale’ isolation facility accused of sexual harassment.

The police officer in question – identified as a male – is accused of sexually harassing a female police officer from another department who is also stationed at the isolation facility.

The incident is alleged to have taken place on Sunday, May 24, and was reported to the police on Tuesday, May 26.

The case is now under criminal investigation by the police. And the Professional Standards Command has also opened its own investigation into the case.

Maldives Police Service is in charge of maintaining security at coronavirus isolation and quarantine facilities across the country.
