Met Office issues yellow alert for central Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service, on Wednesday, issued yellow alert for islands from K. Atoll to Dh. Atoll, warning of torrential rain and heavy thunderstorms.

The yellow alert is effective from 2:15 pm to 4 pm.

Meanwhile, Maldives Meteorological Service has also issued a white alert for islands from N. Atoll to V. Atoll, with the warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and guest winds of up to 40 miles per hour.

The white alert is effective from 1 pm to 6 pm.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts scattered rain and a few thunderstorms across the country.

Surface winds will vary between west/north-westerly in northern atolls and southwest/westerly elsewhere at 6 – 16 miles per hour. Winds may gust 35 miles per hour during showers.

Seas are expected to be slight becoming moderate during showers.
