President conveys condolences to Ameena’s family

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Wednesday, conveyed condolences to the bereaved family of Ameena Mohamed Ameen over her passing.

Ameena is the daughter of the first Maldivian President Mohamed Ameen. She had passed away after a long illness this morning. She was 85 years old at the time of her passing.

The President issued a short message over his Twitter account conveying his condolences to Ameena’s family.

“May Almighty Allah grant the deceased Eternal Paradise and her family patience,” he said.

Ameena had served as the President’s parliamentary representative from February 23, 1980 to January 15, 1989.

The Parliament has opened a virtual book of condolence to record messages of condolences over Ameena’s passing.

She is survived by her husband and four children – Ibrahim Faisal, former Defense Minister Ameen Faisal, Maldivian Ambassador to UK Farhanaz Faisal, and Suweykar Abdul Hameed.
