Yellow alerts issued for anticipated bad weather

Maldives Meteorological Services (Met Office) has issued yellow alerts for two areas of the country in anticipation of bad weather.

The yellow alerts were issued for the areas from Sh. Atoll, Lh. Atoll, V. Atoll and L. Atoll in the central region of the country.

Met Office warned of possible bad weather of heavy rains and thunderstorms from 19:30 to 22:30 in the areas. Wind speeds are expected at around 15 miles per hour with gusts of 35 miles per hour.

Seas are expected to be moderately rough during this time.

The country has been experiencing a spell of bad weather and rainfall. Heavy rains recently saw lighting strike an agricultural island in Dh. Atoll that injured some workers on the island.
