15 rescued from streets of Male', returned to families

15 people in a state of despair or homelessness on the streets of Male’ have been returned back to their families by the Gender Ministry as the capital undergoes a state of lockdown.

The 15 people had been rescue4d from the streets by the Gender Ministry before being returned to their families. Gender Ministry’s State Minister Fazza Shakir, speaking on a program on Raajje TV stated that centers to assist people in homeless situations in the capital were established in Imaaduddine School and the National Stadium.

Accommodations for 54 people were arranged by the Ministry. The 15 people returned to their families are part of the 54 people rescued by the Ministry. 17 others in a state of homelessness still remain under the care of the Ministry. The Ministry has also assisted 100 people with food arrangements in collaboration with other authorities.

Those under the care of the Ministry include both foreigners and locals. Medical arrangements for such people are being arranged in collaboration with the medical team of the National Emergency Operations Center.

The Ministry stated that those under the care of the Ministry would be moved to other facilities following the extension of the lockdown.
