Mayor of Male’ City Shifa Mohamed has said that the problems faced in Male’ city, which is in a state of lockdown. regarding the delivery of basic necessities to households is to be resolved before 20:00 tonight.
The difficulties were posed due to shopkeepers who are unable to leave their homes to open shops, and difficulties in obtaining passes. Work is being conducted by the council along with Police to resolve the issues.
The information of shops has been collected by the council and the Mayor also noted that the number of shops registered for delivery services had also increased. Passes will be provided to those shops that have guaranteed to provide delivery services.
Passes for curfew hours imposed in the capital a few weeks ago will still be considered by Police. Each shop will be provided two or three passes and the mayor stated the focus was on resolving the matters as soon as possible. She advised shopkeepers to provide the service guaranteed to the council during this situation.
Mayor Shifa also announced that an application was being developed for delivery purposes. Around two days will be taken for the application.
City Council has announced that 269 shops in Male’ City, 20 from Vilimale’ would provide delivery services. 202 shops in Male’ and 17 in Vilimale’ will allow online payment methods. A survey by HDC for the same purpose was also conducted. 73 shops in the suburb will provide delivery services while 63 shops will allow online payment methods.
