Part of the floor of an adjacent house collapsed on Saturday afternoon during excavation work for a construction project in Maafannu ward, Male' City.

The incident occurred on Naseemee Hingun, where a person reportedly fell through the collapsed section of the neighboring house’s floor.

According to eyewitnesses, the collapse happened while digging was underway on the adjacent plot.

Male' City Mayor Adam Azim visited the site and met with residents of the affected house. Photos circulating on social media show the floor submerged hip-deep, suggesting a sinkhole-like formation.

The Male' City Council has not issued an official statement, and further details about the incident remain unavailable.

This is the latest in a series of construction-related incidents in Male'. In June this year, the wall of an adjacent house collapsed during construction work on a neighboring plot.

Residents have repeatedly raised concerns about the lack of safety measures around construction sites in the capital, warning that poor site security and excavation practices are putting neighboring homes at risk.
