75 high-risk individuals in direct contact with Patient 21 isolated

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has isolated 75 high risk individuals who were in direct contact with Patient 21, the first case of Covid-19 to be identified in the capital Male' City.

In a press conference underway right now, government spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez revealed that 207 individuals had been in contact with Patient 21 on different levels. They are 75 high-risk contact individuals, 43 medium contact and 89 low-risk individuals.

Out of them, the government had decided to quarantine the high risk and medium risk individuals in contact with Patient 21.

Mabrouq also revealed that seven high-risk individuals and 28 medium-risk individuals had been in contact with the third case of the virus in Male’ City, Patient 23.

He also added that the authorities had not established whether Patient 21, who had no travel history nor contact with another positive case, had been infected with the virus from Patient 23.

Mabrouq said that the high number of people in contact with the positive cases was due to activities such as fishing trips and parties, despite requests by the government to remain indoors.

Three virus cases have been tested positive in the populous capital within a 24-hour period. The government has been conducting testing on many individuals following positive cases. The three positive cases were now in the Farukolhufushi Isolation Center.
