The Maldives has welcomed the 1.5 millionth tourist to visit the country today.
The tourist’s arrival marks the achievement of the targeted number of tourists for the country in 2019. Named as Marina from Russia, she was the center of a warm celebration by the MMPRC, Ministry of Tourism at the Velana International Airport today.
The Maldives saw 1.4 million tourists arrive in the country by October. China was once again the market with the highest arrival, with India experiencing a steady increase. American and Australian markets are also increasing in terms of arrivals.
The Tourism Ministry and MMPRC have been undertaking massive efforts to promote and market the Maldives to increase and develop tourism. The country will welcome a record number of tourists this year since the tourist season has just begun.
