Meteorological Service issues advisory over rough seas, possible tidal swells

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts thunderstorms, strong winds and rough seas across Maldives and warns of possible tidal swells which may result in flooding.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts scattered showers and a few thunderstorms all across the country this Saturday.

Showers are forecasted to be heavier especially in northern and central Maldives.

Surface winds will be south-west / westerly at 13 – 23 miles per hour. Winds may gust 40 – 45 miles per hour during showers.

The agency has advised citizens to take precautionary measures against heavy rain, strong winds and rough seas, and has warned of the possibility of swell surges during high tide times in central and southern atolls which may result in flooding.
