Over 100K tourists visit Maldives in May

Statistics released by Ministry of Tourism shows 103,022 tourist arrivals to Maldives was recorded in the month of May.

The tourist arrival statistics for May, which was released this Thursday, shows the most number of tourist arrivals from a single country came from China. The second highest tourist arrivals came from Italy, and the third highest tourist arrivals came from India.

Meanwhile, European countries Germany and the UK ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, in the tourist arrival statistics.

Tourist arrivals from India - which has been identified as the fastest developing market for Maldivian tourism sector – skipped up by  two ranks from April - when it had ranked at fifth place in tourist arrival statistics.

The statistics show total 749,114 tourists visited Maldives from January to May. The number is a 18 percent improvement compared to the same period of 2018.
