Robbers broke into the Ministry of Economic Development’s office in Addu City and fled with the safe containing over MVR 50,0000 in cash.
Maldives Police Service says the robbery was reported to the authority at 8:01 am this Tuesday.
The robbers had forced open the door of the office by jamming an instrument through it.
MPS confirms the safe contained over MVR 50,000 in cash.
The authority is yet to disclose information regarding any arrests made in connection with the robbery.
The latest robbery to hit a government building follows similar incidents in G. A. Maamendhoo and R. Maakurath in late January.
