Home Minister inquires progress by Prison Audit Commission

Minister of Home Affairs, Sheikh Imran Abdulla has met with members of the newly established Prison Audit Commission (PAC).

Ministry of Home Affairs reports the meeting took place this Monday morning.

During the meeting, Imran inquired about the progress of the commission’s work and challenges faced by the commission, and discussed solutions to the challenges.

PAC was established by Ministry of Home Affairs on December 18, 2018. And is tasked with assessing the current conditions of Maldivian prisons, identifying areas which need reform, and compiling a report – based on which the Ministry of Home Affairs has promised to reform Maldivian prisons and ensure inmates their fundamental rights.

PAC is made up of seven members. They are:

  1. Dr. Abdul Isneen Hilmy
  2. Sheikh Ahmed Abdul Kareem
  3. Shahindha Ismail
  4. Ahmed Mohamed Fulhu
  5. Zuleykha Dawood
  6. Shadiya Adam
  7. Aminath Naaheen Ahmed
