The incident report on the sexual harassment allegations against former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Asim is due this Thursday, says Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid.
During a press conference this Thursday morning, Shahid said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has established a committee which is investigating the sexual harassment allegations against Dr. Asim.
Shahid said the committee’s incident report on the case in due this Thursday. And pledged to take necessary action in light of the findings.
‘And after discussions with the staff of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including the senior staff, it has been decided to include awareness programs on sexual harassment in the workplace for new staff, existing staff and in programs run for staff stations abroad on diplomatic missions,” said Shahid.
Shahid said sexual harassment in the workplace needs to be an open subject in order to stop such incidents and create awareness.
He said hiding such incidents will not put a stop to such offenses.
Dr. Asim has denied the allegations against him.
