Students of Zikura International College have returned to the Maldives after completing an educational exposure trip to Istanbul, Turkey on January 14.
The delegation comprised 27 participants, including 21 students and staff from various programs under the Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies.
During the visit, students toured several academic and religious institutions, including:
Haseki Religious Higher Education Dormitory
Fatih Sultan Mehmet International Anatolian Imam Hatip High School
Istanbul University Faculty of Theology
Fatih Quran Courses
The itinerary also included cultural and historical landmarks such as the Hagia Sophia, Süleymaniye Mosque, Eyüp Sultan Mosque, Blue Mosque, Bosphorus Strait, Grand Bazaar, and Galata Tower.
Zikura College said the trip offered students a chance to engage with Islamic heritage and civilization beyond the classroom. Participants included students enrolled in master’s, undergraduate, and certificate-level programs.
The college noted that the visit also allowed students to experience Turkey’s winter climate and broaden their understanding across multiple fields.
The trip was facilitated by the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye, in coordination with the Maldivian Embassy in Ankara, which helped arrange institutional visits on the first day of the tour.
The group returned to the Maldives on Tuesday, January 22.
