The Police, on Tuesday, revealed they have made progress in their investigation in the alleged child abuse case against Hussain Sunny Umar, G. Maavani.
Sunny Umar, a leading figure in the marketing field, particularly in tourism, stands accused of sexual abuse of multiple minors.
He was arrested on December 2nd while at the airport while trying to flee the country, and remanded in custody by the Criminal Court for 30 days. His remand is set to expire on Thursday.
The Police, on Tuesday, confirmed that Sunny Umar remains in police custody.
“Progress has been made in the investigation of the case against Sunny Umar,” the Police added without providing any further details.
Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) has previously expressed its intention to seek an extension of his remand, or remand until the trial ends, as permitted by law, based on progress in the investigation.
Media reports allege that Sunny sexually assaulted three children related to his wife. Among the victims are a girl and a boy, both under the age of 18.
Travel Guys, Sunny’s company, issued a statement subsequently recognizing the seriousness of the allegations and underscoring that such conduct is unacceptable. The company pledged full cooperation with law enforcement and clarified that the alleged behavior is not connected to its business operations or policies.
