Qasim Ibrahim, Leader of the Jumhooree Party (JP) and Member of Parliament for Maamigili constituency, declared on Monday that he has not witnessed a president work with greater sincerity than former President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
Qasim has recently been a vocal advocate for President Muizzu, frequently praising his administration and defending its policies. He reiterated his admiration for President Muizzu during their recent visit to Fenfushi island in South Ari, addressing the local populace there. Having collaborated with numerous presidents and held various administrative positions since the constitution's establishment, Qasim possesses extensive experience in the political landscape.
However, he asserted on Monday that since the new constitution was drafted in 2008, he has not encountered any leader as sincere as President Muizzu. "Since the constitution was amended, and until the President took office, I have not encountered anyone who has worked with as much sincerity and determination as he has since assuming office," Qasim stated.
He further emphasized his personal commitment, saying, "I was, and still am, making a lot of sacrifices for this country and the country's development."
Qasim highlighted the President's responsiveness during island visits, noting that President Muizzu immediately addresses issues raised by councils and other island agencies, a characteristic he described as unprecedented and worthy of significant praise.
Dispelling notions that his praise was merely ceremonial, Qasim clarified, "Some people have told me to praise, but I am not praising. I am saying things that I believe from the bottom of my heart."

Qasim Ibrahim was recently awarded the title of Order of Nishan Izzuddin. His political career includes involvement in the reform movement preceding the 2008 constitution and a ministerial role in the government of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
He was a candidate in both the 2008 and 2013 elections. However, ideological differences led to the dissolution of coalitions formed during those periods. He later collaborated with former President Abdullah Yameen Abdul Gayoom, a coalition that also eventually collapsed.
During the last government of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, he was part of the coalition for five years. He also contested the 2023 presidential election, notably not endorsing any party in the second round, unlike previous occasions.
