Teaching is a noble and honorable profession, the value of which transcends material measure, says President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
He made the remark in a special message he shared on X on Sunday on occasion of World Teachers’ Day.
In his message, President Muizzu said that the hard work and dedication of educators represent an invaluable service – one that benefits both the material world and the hereafter.
He said that through their guidance, education, and care, teachers play a vital role in shaping today's students into the future leaders and changemakers the country needs.
“It is teachers who play the greatest role and have the greatest power in their hands to brighten Maldives’ future,” he wrote.

He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the professional development and welfare of teachers across the nation.
He concluded his message by conveying Teachers’ Day greetings to all educators, and a prayer for good heath and prosperity for their families.
World Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually on October 5, in commemoration of the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO recommendations concerning the status of teachers, which sets benchmarks regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers, and standards for their initial preparation and further education, recruitment, employment, and teaching and learning conditions.
This year’s World Teachers’ Day is dedicated to the theme “recasting teaching as a collaborative profession”, highlighting the importance of collaboration as a driver of educational transformation.
