In an inspirational address on Saturday, Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) President and Meedhoo Constituency Member of Parliament, Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, emphasized the critical need for the current generation to embrace integrity and compassion in their professional lives.
Speaking at the opening of the MDA Political Center in Bandidhoo in Dhaalu atoll, Siyam called for a renewed focus on ethical conduct, stressing that true societal progress hinges on these core values.
Siyam’s impassioned speech highlighted the interconnectedness of society, stating, "If even one citizen is in trouble, the whole society will feel it." He drew a poignant parallel, recalling how the entire island of Dhaalu atoll’s Hulhudheli rallied together to support one of their children, a testament to the inherent kindness within the Maldivian people.
Underscoring the divine importance of virtuous behavior, Siyam reminded the audience that "God sent human beings in the most noble form and that God loves noble qualities." He passionately declared, “Good manners, kindness and compassion, this is the only way we can move forward and succeed. With kindness, honesty, compassion, and love.”
The hospitality tycoon lauded the Maldivian people for their innate good nature, describing them as "kind, compassionate and possessing extraordinary intelligence" and "exceptionally quick learners." He urged the youth to leverage these remarkable qualities.
“So in our generation today, we should each work hard and move forward in work ethic with work integrity. Everyone should be an earner. We need to work. Our youth are capable of work,” Siyam asserted.
Recognizing the abundance of educated youth in the Maldives, Siyam envisioned a future where Maldivians hold high-ranking, lucrative positions, including general managers of resorts. He reminded them that acts of kindness are not only beneficial for society but also divinely rewarded.
Siyam concluded his address by advocating for a society built on friendliness, obedience, and mutual respect. He stressed that compassion and love are the bedrock of a thriving community, urging everyone to cultivate these qualities, especially towards their parents. His message resonated deeply, serving as a powerful call to action for a more ethical and compassionate future.
