The Maldives Meteorological Service reported on Thursday that sea conditions are anticipated to improve and become calmer from Friday onwards.
Since July, rough seas have significantly impacted a large part of Maldives, leading to several incidents.
The Met Office stated that while weather conditions are expected to improve and seas will be calm from Friday, occasional showers are still anticipated due to the ongoing southwest monsoon.
While much of the country is expected to experience favorable weather from Thursday, some islands may still be affected by blustery weather.
Despite the Met's forecast of calmer seas next week, the northern seas are predicted to remain rough on Thursday evening.
The Met office has consistently urged seafarers to exercise caution over the past week due to severe weather conditions affecting various parts of the Maldives.
Recent marine incidents include a dinghy carrying 17 foreign nationals that capsized on Wednesday evening near Zamani island in Kaafu Atoll, while en route to Guraidhoo. All passengers were rescued. However, on Thursday, a boat near H.Dh. Kumundhoo overturned, resulting in two of the four individuals on board being in critical condition and one fatality.
The current period coincides with school holidays, leading to an increase in the number of travelers.
The Met office advises all passengers to consult the latest weather forecasts before embarking on any sea voyages.
