The CEO of the Male' city Group of Hospitals, Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem, has stated that the health sector is ready to work with President Dr Mohamed Muizzu to attain the nation's health independence.
Haleem was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Hulhumale Dialysis Center at Orange Hiyaa. At the ceremony, Haleem expressed his readiness to work with the President to achieve independence in the health sector.
“One thing I want to say is that as the President said at the opening ceremony of the airport terminal last night, we are ready to work to develop the country, establish independence, economic independence as well as health independence”.
He also said the dialysis service started in Hulhumale 20 years ago and was provided in a 10-bed unit.
The service, which was originally provided in two shifts, was converted to three shifts and the service was expanded, he said. However, he noted that many people still have to wait in queues to get services.
“Dialysis service is not a choice for the people. Not an option. They must do it. A crucial service, because they have kidney failure”.
He said a patient has to spend four hours a day, three days a week to get the service. Therefore, when the service was being provided in three shifts, it was not easy for senior citizens to go through the ordeal after midnight, he said.
Therefore, the center opened at the Orange Hiyaa will have 30 beds, two additional beds in case of emergency and isolation facilities, he said.
Haleem said the center will now serve 150 people a day, although it will serve in two shifts.
The centre, which is operated under the Hulhumale Hospital, has 30 beds and modern facilities.
