The main government hospital, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has made an announcement seeking a party to carry out demolition works as it eyes to develop the old Thalassemia Centre as a General Practice (GP) clinic.
To reduce long waits for medical consultations, the government planned to develop six General Practice clinics in Male’ area which will act as the first point of care, referring patients to specialist and super-specialist doctors when necessary, helping to improve referrals and shorten waiting times. Two such clinics in operation at Maafannu district and Hulhumale’ Phase II, with efforts underway to develop another in Hulhumale’ Phase II.
According to IGMH’s announcement, the Henveiru GP clinic will be developed at the old Thelassmia Centre.
For this purpose, the hospital is seeking a party to carry out the demolition works of the building. The hospital has opened the project up for tender.
The Thalassemia Centre, which has been in poor condition for a long time, was moved to the newly constructed Orange Hiyaa in Hulhumale’ Phase I in May of last year.
Male’ City Group of Hospitals (MCGH) CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem announced plans to commence work on the development of a GP clinic in Henveiru during a ceremony held on December 9th for the execution of an agreement between Hulhumale' Hospital and Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) for the development of a GP clinic in Amaan Udhares Tower Six in Hulhumale’ Phase II. Haleem added that both Henveiru and Amaan Udhares clinics will be inaugurated together.
