30-bed dialysis centre with state-of-the-art services inaugurated at Orange Hiyaa

A 30-bed dialysis centre with state-of-the-art services was inaugurated at Orange Hiyaa on Sunday.

The dialysis centre established on the first floor of Orange Hiyaa was inaugurated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Dialysis is a necessary treatment for patients with kidney failure. Without regular dialysis, patients risk developing further health complications.

Physical works on the dialysis centre which will be operated by Hulhumale’ Hospital commenced in last year’s February.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Male’ City Group of Hospital’s CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem said the centre was developed to expand dialysis services currently provided at Hulhumale’ Hospital.

While patients have to undergo dialysis three times a week for fours, Haleem noted that that receiving treatment at night is particularly challenging for elderly individuals.

He added that the new dialysis centre was established following President Muizzu’s directives and will feature 30 beds, along with two additional beds for emergencies and arrangements patient isolation.

According to Haleem, the centre will operate in two daily sessions, enabling it to serve up to 150 patients each day.

“Today, I am overjoyed as I say none of the patients who require dialysis services in Hulhumale’ and Male’ City will now be required to wait in a queue,” he stressed.

At present, dialysis service department in Hulhumale’ comprises of 10-beds.

After inaugurating the new dialysis centre, President Muizzu toured the premises. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Health Minister Abdulla Nazim and Parliament Speaker Abdul Raheem Abdulla.
