Sun Siyam Pasikudah named among top 10% resorts worldwide

Sun Siyam Pasikudah, a boutique luxury resort on Sri Lanka’s eastern coast, has been named as the Tripadvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best for 2025, placing it among the top 10 percent of resorts worldwide.

Sun Siyam Pasikudah described this latest accolade as one that reflects the resort’s commitment to exceptional guest experiences, sustainable practices, and community engagement.

The annual Travelers’ Choice Awards by the world’s largest travel guidance platform is based on genuine feedback from anyone who has visited and left an authentic, first-hand review on Tripadvisor over a 12-month period, making it a valuable and trustworthy designation of travelers’ favorites.

Sun Siyam Pasikudah has an average rating of 4.6 on TripAdvisor, with rave reviews for its well-kept grounds and spotless beach, coupled with spacious and modern rooms with touches of luxury. Visitors also commended staff attentiveness and friendliness, ensuring a memorable stay.

Reopened in November 2023 after an extensive transformation, Sun Siyam Pasikudah offers 34 spacious one- and two-bedroom garden and beach pavilions, each featuring bold monochromatic interiors accented with golden tones. 

The redesign, led by Studio Sixty7, emphasizes a blend of contemporary elegance and local craftsmanship. The resort collaborated with local artisans, showcasing Sri Lanka’s rich talent and cultural heritage.

The resort’s general manager Arshed Refai said they are thrilled to be recognized on par with some of the world’s best resorts.

“Under just two years since our reopening, this achievement couldn’t be possible with the tremendous effort and support of our world-class team and our guests that keep coming for the unique experiences we offer. We are proud to contribute to Sri Lanka, a destination that is on every traveler’s go-to list,’ added Refai, who has been with Sun Siyam Resorts for over a decade.

Sun Siyam Pasikudah’s amenities include a serene spa, an infinity pool, and diverse dining options such as The Cellar, the largest wine cellar on Sri Lanka's eastern coast, and the Tea House, offering an extensive selection of local teas. Guests can engage in various activities, from water sports like snorkeling and jet-skiing to cultural excursions exploring East heritage sites.

The resort’s recognition comes at a time when Sri Lanka is experiencing a tourism revival, with more than 890,000 international visitors arriving by the end of last month, marking over a 17 percent increase compared to the previous year.

Sun Siyam Pasikudah is one of six resorts operated by the award-winning hotel chain Sun Siyam Resorts; Siyam World, Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, Sun Siyam Iru Veli, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, and Sun Siyam Pasikudah, the latter of which is the only one of its resorts outside the Maldives.

The resort chain has collected a string of condolences in the TripAdvisor’s Travelers Choice Awards 2025, with Siyam World named the best hotel in Maldives, the fourth best hotel in Asia, and among the best 10 hotels in the world.
