Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya, Ma. Resting House, has been dismissed from her post on Monday.

Sun, through reliable sources, can confirm Inaya’s dismissal, however, the reason behind the dismissal remains unclear.

As the Foreign Secretary is a presidential appointee, the president holds the authority to dismiss them at his discretion.

Inaya was appointed Foreign Secretary at state ministerial level on December 12th, 2023. Her appointment marked the first time for a woman to be appointed to the post in the Maldives.

Inaya, noting the cooperation she had received during her tenure as the Foreign Secretary, extended gratitude accordingly.

The Foreign Secretary is chosen from among the secretaries within the Foreign Ministry. Although appointed to the role of Foreign Secretary, the individual will retain their secretary post within the ministry.

As a central figure in shaping and executing a nation's foreign policy, the Foreign Secretary plays a crucial role in managing diplomatic relations. They represent the country on international platforms, develop and implement foreign policy strategies, oversee the operations of embassies, and serve as a key advisor to the head of state on matters of international relations.
