The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel on Monday, April 28, said the Maldives-Malaysia Business Forum 2025 was a clear indication of the strong investor confidence in the Maldives.

The minister’s remarks were made in a meeting held by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to greet Maldivians residing in Malaysia, during his ongoing official trip to the country.

Dr. Khaleel described the forum as one of the most vibrant foreign events held by the Maldives that attracted a high volume of investors, showing strong evidence of investor confidence on the Maldivian economy.

He called the forum a “significant gathering focused on advancement of investment opportunities and economic growth”.

The forum was graced by the Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

According to the minister, the state leaders had shown great camaraderie and noted the Prime Minister Anwar’s participation at the business forum was indicative of the strong ties formed between the Malaysian leader and President Muizzu.

The two leaders met to discuss on strengthening the bilateral relationship of the two countries and other areas of mutual interest, including commerce, tourism, education, youth and sports, Islamic banking, anti-corruption efforts and digital technology.

The two countries exchanged memorandum of understandings (MoUs) on cooperation in the areas of health, sports, tourism and the Exchange of Notes on bilateral consultations and training of diplomats.

President Muizzu is on his official visit to Malaysia on the invitation of the Malaysian Prime Minister, and will conclude his trip on Wednesday, April 30.
